Barry Polisuk

Senior Counsel

Barry joined the firm as a senior counsel in 2020. He practices in the areas of secured lending, corporate commercial, real estate, and securities law. In secured lending, Barry acts on behalf of several banks and trust companies and other institutional and private lenders. His corporate commercial practice concentrates on mergers and acquisitions, incorporations, leasing, and commercial agreements. In real estate, Barry acts on the purchase and sale of commercial properties and the finance of real estate. Barry’s securities practice includes acting for issuers on initial public offerings, reverse takeovers, and financing transactions.

On behalf of a health care REIT on the acquisition and financing of a number of retirement homes.

For Southbridge Health Care Fund on the structuring of the Fund and on numerous acquisitions, financing and corporation reorganizations;

Return on Innovation Capital Ltd. a public mortgage fund on a $53,000,000 secured loan to a major Ontario developer;

Laurentian Bank on an $100,000,000 construction financing for a Toronto condominium;

The Equitable Trust Company on a $12,000,000 financing for the acquisition of a shopping centre and on a $30,000,000 refinancing of a major regional shopping centre in Ontario;

Toronto Securities Dealer on the sale of its business;

Acquisition of a major Toronto manufacturing company and its operating subsidiaries; and

Major Canada retail chain and wholesaler of women's footwear in the negotiation of its distribution arrangements and in a management buy out.
